The team began to engage with industry partners.
In particular, the team has monthly technical exchanges with members of Nokia Bell Labs. Nokia is moving rapidly into Industry 4.0 factories and deployments of robotic, drone, and autonomous systems in enterprise. Digital twins will be the basis for modeling, designing, orchestrating, and controlling next generation (NextG) wireless networks for Industry 4.0. As a large number of connected machines relying on edge servers are being deployed, the performance of NextG networks is becoming increasingly important. Nokia foresees that the methodologies for fusion of multimodal measurements developed in this project will increase accuracy and reliability of NextG wireless networks, especially in complex factory environments.
We expect to engage other companies from other fields/sectors, in particular, the defense sector.
